The Old Bank

High End Residential Conversion, Burford

 

For this project the JWS team worked closely with the client to achieve the vision they had for their dream second home in the Cotswolds.

The building (originally a high street bank) exterior retained much of the historic Cotswold charm you expect in a town like Burford, however the interior was devoid of almost all original character; having been ‘modernised’ over the years for the needs of the bank.

The scheme centred around bringing back some character whilst introducing aspects of a modern luxury home. The works included a bespoke joinery package (plus wine cellar racking), bespoke moulded plaster ceilings and other artisan finishes such as Venetian plastered walls.

The new courtyard incorporated large cut stone features and the rest of the exterior was restored, including stone repairs, full steam clean and new cast iron gutters.

New fully finished solid oak stairs make a bold feature at the heart of the property. The bespoke kitchen and limestone floors along with the client's eye for interior design has created a truly beautiful home.
